Founded in 2001, the MERA group is a 100% nationally invested engineering company specialized in providing inclusive, professional services of drilling and of blasting systems to mineral extraction and construction businesses that are operational in mining and infrastructure industry - the cornerstone of Mongolian Economy, as well one of the largest suppliers and the sole producer of wide range of explosive products and blasting materials in the country.

We provide services of blast hole drilling, charging, stemming and of blasting systems to big mining enterprises operational at the mines of Tavantolgoi in Tsogttsetsii soum and Nariinsukhait in Gurvantes soum of South Gobi aimag which are strategically important inmining regions of Mongolia, based on our plants for manufacturing water-in-oil emulsion & emulsion explosives along with storage facilities settled therein.

Taking over imported goods, we also produce inclusively a wide range of explosives such as packaged ANFO, boosters, non-electric detonators in Nalaikh branch ,a neighbourhood to UB and various packaged emulsions at the plant in Tavantolgoi, and deliver the product to customers with transport under the terms of quicker, comfortable, optional and flexible ways of service. Likewise, we offer our customers imported explosives and blasting materials while being responsible for the storage and transportation.

HISTORY OF MERA LLC

Since 2001, MERA LLC has launched explosive materials production and detonator assembly plants in the country according to international standards which were a big progress to the development of the mining industry – a cornerstone of the national economy, whilst providing a specialist ground support services to big mining. Throughoutthis period, we were committed to a sustainable operation, fair competition business and transparent activities with our performances.

2001

The company was founded to operate as manufacturer / provider of explosive materials and blasting systems to the mining
Joined the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry

2002

Commenced trading of CAT brand auto spare-parts and materials
Awarded as one of the “Top 100 Entrepreneurs” by the Government,National chamber of commerce and the industry of Mongolia
Undertaken a geology exploration at ‘Zooluukhar’ valley project, in Khongor soum of Darkhan uul aimag

2004

Awarded as a “Reliable tax payer” by the Taxation agency of Mongolia
Executed of a re-exporting business of mining equipments from Russia to China
Pioneered in executinga blasting operation at Erdenet mine using the Nonel system materialsin Mongolia

2005

Recommendations of MERA Group experts were incorporated into the law of Mongolia on “Controlling the circulation of explosive substance and blasting equipment” which is currently effective
The company has executed its first blasting at an iron ore mine in Tuvshruulekh soum of Arkhangai province, for Beren Group. Arranged the regional transportion of explosives itself

2006

Launched an explosives plant-T11 and storage facility using the U.S technology according to the national standards in Nalaikh, UB first time in the country
Awarded as the top “Nationally invested entrepreneur”

2007

Executed the automatization of blasthole loading and provided a service of blasthole loading with special-purpose, the US produced machinery of ‘Sterling’ at Baganuur JSC mine
Commenced the production of Ayanga-X, a reinforced commercial explosive material

2008

Provided services of explosive materials production and of blasting systems for SGS LLC – inclusively the first time

Commenced using the air bags to create air spaces in blast holes for the first time
Introduced international quality management standard of ISO 9001:2008 for operations

2011

Awarded as one of the “Top-20 companies” on the achievement for holding corporate social responsibility, by the Government and Chamber of commerce and industry, Mongolia
As an expansion to the blasting service operation, the company has executed a blasting using electric detonators for the first time in Mongolia
Ecological Technology LLC was founded to operate catering and camping services
Started blasthole drilling operation at Erdenes tavantolgoi JSC’s coal mine using an Atlas Copco DM45 machine
Launched a plant of emulsion explosives production-T12 and storage facility at Ukhaa khudag coal mine in South Gobi province
Introduced the Orica’s Shot plus software to blasting services

2012

Conducted risk assessment study for Mongolian civil aviation sector and a coal mine, in collaboration with European experts
Organized a coal coking export the first time for the organization
Commenced a camping service with capacity of 250 persons based at the T12 plant of MERA LLC
Conducted drilling and blasting operation at Baruun Naran coking coal mine of Tavantolgoi region in South Gobi province

2013

Launched a rock crushing and sorting factory
Introduced the KPI evaluation system to the organization

2014

Selected as a subcontractor for Monnis LLC’s Khushuut mining project in Darvi soum of Khovd Province, and started drilling and blasting operations
An explosive booster truck (20th) and Atlas Copco’s DM-45 drilling rigs machine were added to the fleet of transportion

2015

Started drilling operation at Shivee-Ovoo JSC mine under an agreement for service
Constructed an explosives warehouse at Khushuut mine in Khovd province
Executed the largest volume of blasting operation in Mongolia, moving 1.265.441m of overburden using 447.6 tons of explosives at Ukhaa Khudag mine, Tavantolgoi deposit
Succesfully implemented the OHSAS 18001:2012 standard of Occupational Health and Safety Management and the MNS ISO 14001:2005 standard for environmental management at operation

2016

Conducted blasting operations for Oyu Tolgoi LLC’s road construction and daily use water supply pipe line projects
Entered into a long term service agreement with Mongolian Energy Corporation to conduct drilling and blasting operations at Khushuut coal mine in Darvi soum of Khovd province

2017

MERA Group Extraction and MERA companies were selected to provide mining operations at the strategically important Baruun Tsankhi mine of the Tavantolgoi deposit and commenced operations
MERA LLC has successfully executed its 1000th blasting operation at the Ukhaa Khudag coal mine of the Tavan Tolgoi deposit
MERA Group has participated in the international Coal Mongolia 2017 conference and exhibition as a Platinum Sponsor
Started the processes of introducing ISO31000, an international risk management standard
MERA LLC was awarded the "Best Subcontractor of the Year" on the 95th Anniversary of the Mining Sector Development in Mongolia in evaluating its work in 2017
Mongolian first booster plant T14 started operation in 2017

2018

Nonel detonator assembly plant T15 that meets Europian standard was established for the first time in Mongolia
Packaged emulsion explosive plant T13 was started into operation
Expanded the fleet of equipments with Atlas Copco’s DM-45 drilling rigs
Bulk emulsion explosive plant T16 was started operation into in Gurvan Tes branch
Successfully completed pilot charge with emulsion explosives produced by MERA LLC at Oyu Tolgoi mine
Expanded recharging capacity by ordering 3 emulsion explosive charger truck manufactured by Howo LLC, that uses Orica company from Howo company

2019

Expanded the fleet of equipment with Atlas Copco’s DM-65 drilling rigs
MERA LLC started to supply Booster products, Bulk explosives and Packaged emulsion explosives to Oyu Tolgoi LLC

2020

OdooERP business management system was introduced to MERA LLC.
Increased the capacity of T13 packaged emulsion explosives plant by 40%.
Increased the capacity of the T14 factory of boosters and reduced the drying time of explosives by 15-18%.
The capacity of T16 plant was increased from 22,000 tons to 36,000 tons.
A theoretical and practical conference was organized on the topic "BLASTING TECHNOLOGY AND SAFETY WORK - 2020".

2021

MERA LLC was selected as the best 2020 mining and quarrying company by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security for the "HIGH-SAFE WORKPLACE PRIORITY ORGANIZATION" competition with more than 60 companies.
510 trees were planted in the natural park called Bus Nuur, and 100 saplings were handed over to the 3rd Khoroo citizens.

2022

MERA Engineering LLC assembled and put into operation the first blast hole locking machine in Mongolia.
Selected as the "Best Supporting Contractor Organization" in the mining industry.
Selected as the enterprise with the best participation in the "Great Miners' Sports Festival".
Won 3rd place in the "Great Festival of Miners' Art".
The T18 factory and warehouse complex with the capacity to produce up to 10,000 tons of emulsion explosives and 40,000 tons of simple composition explosives per year has been put into operation.
Joined the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

2023

The park was updated by the LC 70 series and two FlexiROC D65 drilling machines.
Became a member of the American Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the National Mining Association.
In cooperation with the GreenSpot project team planted trees in the homes of 23 employees and presented 100 Siberian pines to Bagahangai district as part of social responsibility work.
On March 14, 2023, MERA LLC received the right to hold the Quality Management System certificate for 3 years.
